About US

Ahmad Golchin stands as a pioneering figure in the history of the UAE film industry. Founding Phars Film in 1964 in Dubai, amidst a landscape where film activity was nascent in the Gulf, Golchin played a pivotal role in shaping the cinematic landscape of Dubai. Despite initial challenges, including sourcing film prints and garnering interest from producers and distributors, Golchin recognized Dubai`'`s potential.

Golchin’s impact extended beyond film distribution; he played a pivotal role in building the exhibition industry in the UAE. From organizing screenings in the desert to spearheading the establishment of cinemas across Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman, Golchin’s efforts culminated in the creation of a robust cinema circuit.

Golchin’s legacy extends beyond infrastructure development. He transformed the distribution and exhibition landscape, laying the foundation for a thriving cinema market in the Gulf. His contributions not only fostered the growth of the UAE film industry but also built a real dynamic in the distribution and exploitation of Indian films in the Gulf.

Phars Film, founded by Ahmad Golchin, is solely responsible for the distribution and exhibition (through Starcinemas) of a critical mass of Hollywood, Bollywood and other foreign language content brought to the Middle East.

Phars Film’s unequaled distribution network and stakeholder partnerships now oversee the regional distribution and screening of over 350 films each year, making it the Middle East’s largest film distribution and exhibition network.
