About US

Ahmad Golchin is a pioneering figure in the Gulf film industry and the founder of Phars Film, established in Dubai in 1964. Recognizing Dubai’s early potential when film activity in the region was nascent, he overcame logistical challenges to build one of the Middle East’s first organized distribution and exhibition operations. His early initiatives — from organizing desert screenings to importing film prints — laid the groundwork for cinema culture across the UAE.

Under Golchin’s leadership, Phars Film expanded exhibition infrastructure across Dubai, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman and launched the Starcinemas circuit, creating a professional and sustainable cinema network. He transformed how films were distributed and exhibited in the Gulf, forging strategic partnerships with producers, distributors and exhibitors to broaden audience access to international content.

Phars Film, guided by Golchin’s vision, became the region’s leading distributor and exhibitor of Hollywood, Bollywood and other foreign-language films. Today the company oversees the regional release and screening of more than 350 films annually, maintaining an unmatched distribution network and playing a central role in shaping the Gulf’s contemporary film market.

Golchin’s legacy is seen in the vibrant cinema ecosystem of the UAE and the broader Gulf region — a lasting testament to his role as an industry builder, innovator and champion of cross-cultural film exchange.

Phars Film, founded by Ahmad Golchin, is solely responsible for the distribution and exhibition (through Starcinemas) of a critical mass of Hollywood, Bollywood and other foreign language content brought to the Middle East.

Phars Film’s unequaled distribution network and stakeholder partnerships now oversee the regional distribution and screening of over 350 films each year, making it the Middle East’s largest film distribution and exhibition network.
